The Garfield High School Murals | 2006 | East Palo Alto

East Palo Alto is a city in transition. Once known as the murder capital of California, it is now home to IKEA and other upscale retail stores. It is still mainly low income with a high crime rate. The mural reflects the hopes of Garfield students to transform their city into a more beautiful and peaceful city. The mural was painted entirely by students under Marta's direction.
